Anthem Members

Additionally, Anthem is making some temporary changes to their health plan benefits to provide relief and ensure healthcare access for members who live in Los Angeles and Ventura counties in California and are impacted by the wildfires and windstorm conditions. The changes are in effect January 7 through February 5, 2025. The changes also apply to emergency responders who have been activated to the impacted area by their state or local agency, but who do not live in the impacted area.

Anthem can help with finding available doctors, refilling prescription drugs, and other health plan questions. They're available by phone Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT.
Receiving care during the emergency
- You can receive care from any doctor or hospital, even if they are not in your plan's network. Anthem will cover the claims as if they are in your plan's network.
- If your doctor's office or healthcare facility is closed because of the emergency, or if you are unable to travel there, call us at (833) 285-4030 Anthem can help you find another doctor.
- If you're in a care management program and need to reach them, call (833) 285-4030.
- If you're having a medical emergency, go to the nearest emergency room.
Virtual care through LiveHealth Online
You can also receive virtual non-emergency care at no cost to you, this includes members enrolled in the High Deductible Health Plan PPO. LiveHealth Online offers video visits with U.S.-based, board-certified doctors on your phone, tablet, or computer from anywhere. Use code LAWILDFIRES when you log in.
Prescription drug refills
If your Anthem plan covers your prescription medicines, you can receive up to a 30-day emergency refill at any pharmacy now, even if it's not in your plan's network.
If you use Anthem's home delivery pharmacy and your address changed, call them at (833) 285-4030 so they can make sure to send your medicine to the right place.
Medical equipment that is lost or damaged
Anthem can help you replace your equipment (also called durable medical equipment or DME). Call Anthem at (833) 285-4030.
Pre-approvals or referrals
You have more time to request them. There won't be any late fees. Call (833) 285-4030 if you need an extension.
Filing a claim
You and your doctors have more time to file claims. Call (833) 285-4030 if you need an extension.
Mental health support
The mental health hotline is open 24/7 and staffed by behavioral health professionals. Call (800) 765-4446 if you need support. There's no cost to you.
- Anthem's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers mental health support and resources to help with legal and financial concerns, dependent-care needs, and other life challenges. Call the 24/7 EAP crisis line at (877) 208-8240.

Kaiser Members
Kaiser members needing Kaiser services can contact Member Service at (800) 464-4000 (English) or (800) 788-0616 (Spanish) (M-F 8am-5pm PT).
All Kaiser Permanente facilities in Southern California are open at this time — including ones that were closed last week due to evacuations. Kaiser will contact you if your appointments are affected.

VSP Members
Members who have lost or broken their eyewear due to the wildfires can call VSP at (800) 877-7195 for assistance accessing no-cost eye care and replacement eyewear. Individuals without VSP coverage can contact their local American Red Cross chapter or shelter, or call (800) RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) to ask about support for replacement eyewear, which may include VSP Eyes of Hope gift certificates or an alternative solution.

MetLife
MetLife EAP and Grief Counseling vendor, TELUS Health, is offering 24/7 support to JPLers impacted by the LA wildfires, regardless of your enrollment in any MetLife benefits. The Crisis Hotline is available by calling: (877) 757-7587. Callers will receive professional emotional support and/or referrals to community resources. Additionally, if you're enrolled in a MetLife home or auto policy and need to report a property or casualty claim, you can do so online, over the phone, or via fax. Information on how to submit a claim can be found below.

JPL-Subsidized Back-up Family Care Benefits
As part of JPL's Benefits Program, JPL-subsidized, limited Backup Care Services are provided by Bright Horizons, offering both center-based and in-home backup care for children, adults, and elderly relatives. "Back-up" care is designed to support employees when their regular care provider is unavailable, providing flexible, as-needed care. In-home care is also available for individuals who are injured or mildly ill with common, short-term non-contagious illnesses or who show symptoms of illness.
Sittercity, a part of Bright Horizons, adds even more value by connecting JPL employees to a network of trusted caregiving professionals. Through Sittercity, employees can find caregivers for a variety of needs, including babysitters, nannies, housekeepers, pet care, disability care, and care companions.
