Mars Global Surveyor (MGS)

    The Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) spacecraft was launched in November 1996, and arrived at the Red Planet in September 1997. MGS will relay science and engineering data collected by the Microprobes back to Earth.

Mars Polar Lander

    The Mars Polar Lander Spacecraft launched for Mars in January 1999, and will arrive at the Red Planet in December, 1999. The Deep Space 2 probes will "piggyback" to Mars on the cruise ring of this spacecraft.

Other New Millenium Deep Space and Earth Orbiting Missions

    Deep Space 2 is only one of many New Millennium Program missions which will flight validate key technologies required for exciting science missions in the 21st century.
